THE QUANTUM MATTER AND QUANTUM INFORMATION
SYMPOSIUM IN 2023 WE FORUM

The Quantum Matter and Quantum Information Symposium in the 2023 WE Forum will be hosted by the School of Science at Westlake University on November 3rd-4th, 2023, in Hangzhou, China.

The symposium will focus on exploring novel quantum states of matter and the underlying organizational principles in condensed matter physics, such as superconductivity, quantum magnetism, topological physics, ultra-cold atomic states of matter, and the frontiers of quantum physics research. It aims to provide an open platform for communication and discussion, obtain inspiration to promote innovation in interdisciplinary directions. This gathering is of great significance for promoting the exploration of new material and state structures, the development of new quantum materials, and the innovation of quantum technology.

About Hangzhou
Hangzhou is a historic, cultural and economic center located at the southern terminus of the Grand Canal which is the longest canal or artificial river in the world. Situated in the nutritious Yangtse River Delta less than one-hour high-speed rail ride away from Shanghai, Hangzhou has always been a prosperous city throughout the past millennium. Hangzhou is one of the so called Seven Ancient Capitals of China. It's also an emerging technology hub and home to the e-commerce giant Alibaba.
The city is known as “The Heaven on Earth” for its beautiful landscapes. On the one hand, Hangzhou offers a colorful and diverse urban image with modern skylines as well as traditional architecture typical for the Yangtze River Delta; on the other hand, the city has preserved its lush hills and wild mountains, beautiful creeks and lakes, bamboo forests, and further developed flower gardens, parks, and tea plantations. As one of the greenest and most environmentally friendly cities in China, you can enjoy beautiful sceneries during every season of the year. Please click here to explore more about this city.

We have built one of the most stunning, sustainable, and multi-functional campuses in the world for our Westlake community. With over 300 generously funded state-of-the-art independent laboratories for thousands of researchers, Yungu Campus not only boasts some of the best facilities in the world for research, exploration, and interdisciplinary engagement, but also a campus which has been specifically designed with quality of life in mind.
Facilities include the Academic Ring connecting the main research and teaching buildings; residential and dining compounds; sports and recreation centers; student activity hubs; health care facilities; hotel and conference areas; administrative buildings; and others. A major feature of our green, landscaped campus is a waterway surrounding the Academic Ring which is used for both recreation and research endeavors. More information can be found in here.
